I notice that the DSC hacker check is able to report on the number of attempts that have occurred over the past 24 hours. currently if i want to change the 24x7 frequency check interval or DSC run time for multiple devices, i have click on each individual workstation or server and make the modification manually. this is ideal for working on on few devices at a time, but currently i have a need to change over 190 workstations 24x7 frequency intervals, but find the manual method will take too long. there should be a global or group option ...more »
I would love to be able to monitor a ping time response for some sites, a few sites have problems with their internet connections and some using Citrix suffer from anomalies with their routers. I ping time check could alert us to degradation on the link or a problem with a router. Example: If ping time response is over 150ms for 5 consecutive pings, send alert. Reporting the status of Apple's built-in Time Machine backup would be a top feature for me.
Apple displays the status of the service on the Menu Bar so it may be possible to get this with a script, but I would be great to have this monitoring standard.
Given the average Mac user view of viruses, backups and patches will be a bigger driver of monitoring.
I have a client who has had a third party install some software and request that a particular folder on the hard drive be excluded from AV scans (on access real-time scans). I would like the ability to reboot servers on every 3rd Sunday of the month. Currently it only allows for a day of the week, and then I have to add that to each server. I know there are ways to do this in GPO and scheduled tasks, but it would be nice to have it all done in one interface, GFI.

Windows is quite dependent on the time is correct on all servers and workstations to authentikationen works. I now have a couple of times experienced that vital servers came up with the wrong time, and thus laid the network down. I could use to good game management tool could cause errors if the servers according to their time zone was out of sync with more than 5 minutes for example. 24/7 Checks should have a time window (start and stop times). WHEN a check is applied is as important as WHAT it is checking.
Things change. It may be that your server behaves differently during a single period of the day... or it may be several profiles for different parts of the day. Either way, if each check had a time element, the flexibility to write appropriate checks would be handled.
Request to have a more granular report available per device to show the times during the day a certain blocked website was attempted to be accessed.
If a user inadvertently or purposely changes the date/time on a machine, it can cause the agent reporting and other checks to report erroneous results. The agent should include the local time as a part of the reporting to the host which should compare that to the reception time. If there is a significant discrepancy (more than a couple of minutes), it should be flagged as a possible clock error. e.g. changing the date ...more »
It would be an extra service to partners if an Agent did not report back in the past number N days. For example you could set this to 1 or 10 (defined by partner). If this machine did not respond back within that time, the alert is send that this machine was offline for more that 1 or 10 days. I have some servers that I want to monitor, but can't justify the cost. These servers are not mission critical and don't really need to check in every 15 minutes. When entering timings into a ticket such as start time and finish time, I've found the formatting to be a little bit too finicky. The need to specify whether it is AM or PM (not being able to just continue entering and have it pick up automatically), and that it seems to hate lack of spacing between the time and whether it is AM or PM is a l (8:30AM is invalid, where 8:30 AM is fine).
