Raised on behalf of Fancit B.V. SolarWinds Backup doesn't currently support restoring directly to a KVM Hypervisor target; users must instead restore the device to a VHDX or VMDK via Virtual Disaster Recovery. In some cases (such as the rental of Virtual Private Servers), direct access may also not be available to the KVM Hypervisor platform; it would be of great help if Backup was still able to support restoration ...more »
I want to be able to grab files from any system backed up to the cloud and be able to move them to any other system. Please make this a possibility. This should be a basic thing for simple file backup and recovery. If you could make this a thing for hyper-v and xenservers, that would be cool too.
If you forget your encryption key (or if a malicious employee decides to go off the rails) you're customers backups are worthless.
Allow the MSP business owner a master restore password that only they would know that could override all other backup passwords.
Give us the option to have one global password for all, or one for each client. (I personally would prefer one global for all)
Some files in long paths with long names make it hard to see the exact file name to determine exactly which file to restore. Would like to see the ability to hover over to get the name, or scroll over to see the entire file name, during a restore.
Can restored folders have the same modified data as the backup it's restored from. It currently changes to the current date/time. The created date for the folder if correct however. Just the modified date is different.
The documents restore functionality should be expanded to be able to use the recovery console. Additionally it should allow the restore to take place on to a server OS and workstation OS
We would like the ability to restore an individual AD user
- The ability to search restore tree for folder names. This works for filenames with wildcards, but does not for folder names.
- A section within the restore tab so show all recently deleted folders on the device so that it is easier to locate what needs to be restored.

right now the only option to restore VmWare virtual machines is to a valid ESXi target.
Not everyone has multiple ESXi servers available for restore purposes so we would like to see the feature to restore a VmWare VM to a local drive target.
we would consider it a good idea to be able to specify an alternative user for restore so you could restore data to network shares with authentication.
Since you can do this while backing up already, we also need this for restore purposes.
The ability to quickly import or export configuration settings (customers, users, queues, rules, etc) would be very convenient for the purpose of backups or quick reversions.
It would be nice to have an accessible list of files restored such as the same as for files backed up to be able to check to see if a specified file was part of a restore set
